What If?
A Poem by Donna Hancock - Poet and Author
What If?
What if God hadn't made a backup plan?
I wonder what would have happened to man?
What if God had just said "No",
Instead of telling Noah to go build that boat?
What if God gave us what we actually deserve
Instead of coming to to seek and serve?
What if Jesus decided not to die on that tree?
What if He'd called out, "Abba, please, spare me"?
What if God judged us based on our deeds?
Would we have had what it took to succeed?
What if He'd shown us no mercy or grace,
Instead of dying for us & taking our place?
What if the world was left on it's own?
No hope for mankind, no love to be shown?
What if He said, "That's your last chance, you messed up!"?
There wouldn't have been an angel to show up.
He changed the world that day with a virgin.
He said, "I, alone, can carry their burden."
He saved me, a prodigal, through and through.
No more, "What ifs" for me, today, I am new!
Forgiveness is not so easy, you see,
But our God has a heart for people like me.
He seeks out the downtrodden, the sick, and those lost.
He will always give all, no matter the cost!
So, today, there is a choice you can make.
Will you heed His call? And what will it take?
He always goes after that one little lamb,
He is King Jesus, the Great I Am!
So call out to Him right now, today!
He's lovingly waiting to just hear you say,
"Lord, I believe that you died for me,
A long time ago, alone at Calvary.
The day that You died, everything changed
Sin lost it's grip and some of it's pain.
You defeated death, rose again the third day,
Now I know that's not all there's much more to say!
When You return, the trumpet will sound!
We'll meet You in the air, those left will confound!
Then together we'll be with You, no more questions asked.
No more "what if's", and no more tasks.
Forever and ever You'll reign from on high,
There will be no more tears and You'll hear not a cry.
All pain will forever be gone and forgotten,
All because Abba, gave His Only Begotten!
